SWISS defender Stephan Keller will be given the chance to prove he should be the last piece in Sydney FC's squad jigsaw when they face Newcastle Jets on Sunday.
Despite having a weakened squad at his disposal due to minor injuries and international duty, Coach Vitezslav Lavicka will use the match to fine-tune what will be his final lineup.
But while some of Sydney FC stars will be missing, Swiss triallist, Keller will get his opportunity to impress in the heat of battle and push to become the club's final signing in central defence.
"Yes we are going to (start with Keller)," the coach. "We have Simon Colosimo play there and we have Mitchell Prentice and some young players but we will see, we still need experience and strong play in this position.
"It is very important because the main season is very close now," said the Czech mentor of the friendly clash with the Jets. "Some players, youth players are with Socceroos Under-20 in South America but I think still we have a good squad."
The Sydney Football Stadium clash with be Sydney's 13th and last pre-season outing. With eleven wins and a draw under their belts so far, including a 2-0 victory against Newcastle a fortnight ago in Port Macquarie, the Sky Blues will be keen to complete an unbeaten run.
"We've gone in, we've gone about our business," said defender, Simon Colosimo. " We're disciplined off the pitch, which makes us disciplined as soon as we step on it."
"We're actually going to play at the stadium for the first time, it's our home ground, and it's another good opportunity to tweak things and have a look at things for round one," Colosimo continued.
The pre-season friendly between Sydney FC and the Newcastle Jets gets underway at 2pm on Sunday afternoon at the Sydney Football Stadium. All seating will be general admission with tickets on sale at $10 for adults and $5 concession.
