EXCLUSIVE: Sydney FC are confident of sealing a deal for Swiss defender Stephan Keller within the next 24 hours if the city can win over his family.
Having impressed in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Newcastle Jets, coach Vitezslav Lavicka believes he has found the right player to complete his squad and officials are working hard to get the deal over the line.
The defender was among those gathered for the club's season launch at Sydney's Star City casino on Wednesday night although he was a guest rather than an employee.
The club is hoping it won't be long before the player is pulling on his boots for the club and the only remaining hurdle appears to be the issue of family relocation.
"I hope that within the next 24 hours that we're in a position to get Stefan's signature on a piece of paper," CEO Stefan Kamaz told au.fourfourtwo.com at the launch.
"Where families are involved and you're talking about moving them from one end of the earth to the other it is difficult at times.
"If he was a single man, heading here on his own, he'd already be signed but he has to look after his family's wishes as well.
"But I think he'll be able to sell Sydney to his family. And I know that once his family arrives here they will be happy with what they see."
