Glory are propping up the A-League and have already shipped 20 goals in their opening seven matches.

Frank Juric and Jason Petkovic have shared custodian duties so far this season while Velaphi has impressed with two clean sheets in the National Youth League.

Perth entertain Sydney FC at Members Equity Stadium next week and coach Dave Mitchell admits it's time for a change between the sticks.

He told thewest.com.au: "Tando’s going to start the next game. He’s been patient in waiting for his time. He’s the future of the club and he’s a good keeper.

“When we started recruiting players Tando was in the Olympic side.

“He could’ve gone to the Olympics, he could’ve been sold or he could’ve picked up an injury. Jason was recovering from a leg break and felt he was a bit of a club legend and I felt he needed another chance to prove himself."

While there have been calls for Glory to blood more of their young players, the coach won't be rushing them into the first team in huge numbers and certainly not all at once.

He said: "There’s always a couple of players that you maybe want to bring through but you just have to make sure you don’t put them into an environment where they feel nervous themselves because the team is nervous and makes them play bad.

“You’ve got to be cautious that you don’t bring them into an environment where they play bad because of the situation.”
