Coomera, who compete in the Gold Coast Premier League, booked their spot in the last 32 with a 2-1 win over Brisbane Premier League side Logan Lightning.

The Colts are the only one of Queensland’s four FFA Cup representatives that do not play in the NPL Queensland.

But the small regional club, who currently sit in sixth place on the Gold Coast Premier League table, are on a roll and are ready to take on an A-League side in the next round if the opportunity arises.

Colts vice president and first-team manager Tony Roach admits reaching the final 32 in the FFA Cup is a special moment for the 36-year-old club.

"Having been an active member of the club for a period of 20 years this is undoubtedly the greatest achievement in football the club has ever seen," Roach told FTBL.

"It has been a significant milestone for all involved in the Club and provides motivation to the club and its membership to continue the proud tradition of the Club to develop into a force in Football on the Gold Coast and provide significant pathways for the enjoyment and development of junior football members.

"We had a simple goal at the start of the FFA Cup and that was to go as far as far as we could. Having completed the seven Queensland qualification rounds and advanced to the national round of 32, we have far exceeded our expectations.

"The lads are hungry to show their stuff on the national stage and acknowledge whoever we draw it will be the most challenging game of their footballing careers.”

Founded in 1983, Coomera has more than 800 players in its junior, men’s and women’s teams. The men’s first-team were promoted into the Gold Coast Premier League in 2013 and last year the club entered a side in the Gold Coast Women’s Premier League.
