Last time au.fourfourtwo.com spent time with the powerfully built right back, he was dividing his day between the A-League and a thriving personal fitness business.

It was a crazy schedule for the fitness fanatic who would train clients at 6am before driving from Sydney to Gosford to train with the Mariners each week.

The former Northampton Town defender would return down the F3 to the Harbour City later in the day to pump weights and supervise cardio workouts with other clients.

He now admits it took a toll, and he finally resolved to put the business on the backburner to concentrate on making the Mariners’ right side of defence a real strong-point.

“I’m not a superman and you can’t do everything,” the 27-year-old admitted to au.fourfourtwo.com.

“At the time you don’t realise but it started to catch up. Not so much physical but mentally at times."

And it’s resulted in a standout season that’s featured timely goals and a genuine cutting edge down the right.

Along with Roar star Ivan Franjic, the pair have been huge for their respective clubs, dominating and defending their right wing.

“Football takes priority and it’s paid off," he added. “There’s also been more mental approach which has lead to more self-belief.

“Cutting back on the fitness work has helped and also just working on individual areas that need strengthening.

“I also set a target to score more goals and so far it’s paid off."

Bojic also hailed the team’s structure, saying it’s a joy when all players on the park and in the squad are crystal clear about not only their own roles but the roles of each of their teammates.

It’s made for a season to remember on the Central Coast and tonight, against the out-of-form red and whites and with Bojic returning from suspension, the league leaders can solidify their spot at the top.

But with striker Matt Simon and playmaker Musti Amini either gone or soon to exit for pastures greener, and a number of other players attracting interest, there’s a feeling that for this group, their time is now.

However one player staying on is attacking left back Josh Rose who has inked a three-year extension.

It’s unclear whether Bojic, in the final year of his contract after signing in 2008, will follow suit and re-sign.

There is strong interest from other clubs but he is currently keeping his options open. Either way Bojic hopes he starts next pre-season on the back of a grand final win.

And while Central Coast are hot favourites to finally land a title after a trio of appearances on the big day, Bojic remains wary.

He added: “For me Brisbane and Melbourne Victory are two teams that can challenge - and Sydney can turn their season around too.”
