Speaking to the official Hyundai A-League 2012 Grand Final Programme, produced by FourFourTwo's striking partner The Football Republic, the Brisbane Roar coach underlined the philosophy instilled into his players.

“You’re constantly trying to improve on a daily basis. I look around the world and here. I spoke with [former Sydney FC coach] Vitezslav Lavicka and I learn off him. That’s just one an example,” he said.

“You’re constantly questioning what you do and how you can improve.

“I’ll get up in the middle of the night and watch a game from overseas and I’ll find something that inspires me the next day at training and try it.

“I guess that’s the beauty of what we do.”

Postecoglou, 46, added that although coaching was hard work, it wasn’t really like work.

“I’m one of the lucky ones,” he said.

“I do something in life that I’m passionate about. As I keep telling my mates I’ve been lucky enough to avoid having a real job my whole life.

“It’s a real privilege to do what we do. And we’re all committed – the players and staff – to what we do. And when it culminates in playing in a grand final again, there’s nothing better.”
