The midfielder is one of three Mariners looking to get one over on their old club.

Andre Gumprecht and Nik Mrdja are fellow Perth old boys with both having contributed to the club’s successes in the dying stages of the old NSL.

And for Pondeljak it is about developing a pattern of consistency which will auger well for the new season.

He said: “They’ve (Glory) recruited a few players but I haven’t seen them play yet and I don’t know the personnel that they’ve got there, but they’ve been doing well in the Pre-Season Cup and we’re expecting a really tough game.

"We’ve done well in the last couple of Pre-Season Cup’s and we’ve always tried to carry that into the season proper.

"In the first year we did that, while in the second year we probably struggled a bit because we were struggling for a striker at the start of the year and I think that put us off balance a little bit.

"Hopefully this year, with Mrdja and Sasho up front, hopefully they can stay fit and well and the rest of us can stay fit and well and we’ll have a good year."

With more group points than Group A winners Adelaide United, the Mariners will host the 2007 Pre-Season Cup final if they defeat Glory on Saturday.

That would mean the Central Coast will have hosted every clash of the Pre-Season Cup showpiece.

Should the Mariners qualify for the final, it will continue a rich tradition of final appearances for Pondeljak.

Up until last season’s Hyundai A-League final, he had made an appearance in every Australian domestic final since 2002.

Coach Lawrie McKinna said: “Tommy is definitely under consideration for Saturday’s game, he’s had a full week of training, which was the goal after last week."
