EXCLUSIVE: Gary van Egmond has ruled out a swoop for Olyroos defender Trent McClenahan but expects a rival A-League club to pounce for his services.
McClenahan has been linked with Newcastle Jets but van Egmond insists the former Hereford United man is not on his shopping list.
As he headed for Perth today to prepare for Friday's A-League clash against Dave Mitchell's Glory, the Jets boss told au.fourfourtwo.com: "Trent McClenahan won't be signing with us.
"I have heard he is keen to come back to play in Australia but to be honest I think we're pretty much done and dusted when it comes to the full-back positions in the squad.
"It'll be interesting to see what happens (with McClenahan) though."
The Jets coach also confirmed that skipper Jade North will feature against Perth Glory on Friday and doesn't believe that all the transfer speculation surrounding the Socceroos defender will have a detrimental effect on his game.
Van Egmond said: "We'll welcome Jado into the fold for Perth and I'm looking forward to having him back.
"I think once you step out on that pitch then you just go into player mode and you put to one side all the other stuff that might be going on.
"As we speak, there is nothing concrete in terms of a move overseas and he remains a Newcastle Jets player.
"We are all aware of the situation, we won't stand in the way of a player who has a chance to go and play in a higher league but for now I'm very happy to have Jade North to select.
"It's a question of wait and see and I think Jade is in the same mindset. He'll just go out there and give his all for Newcastle Jets."
The only injury absentee for the Jets this weekend will be Jesper Hakansson who misses out with a calf injury.
