Perth played the second match of their tour against Chinese Super League side Changsha Ginde, and while the result favoured the home team, coach Dave Mitchell applauded the effort shown by his fresh faced squad.

“The boys have been very positive in the way they’ve approached every match and the more time we spend together on the pitch the more cohesive our play has been,” Mitchell said.

“It has been really pleasing to see the lads on trial out there giving everything to prove they’re ready to make the step-up into the A-League.

“I can’t question the endeavour show by the entire squad,” Mitchell said.

Once again Stirling Lions midfielder Marc Anthony was a calming influence in central midfield while at the back Mandurah City’s Keith Brown played another solid 90 minutes.

Eugene Dadi was the lone target up front for Perth and performed admirably despite the extra close attention of Changsha Ginde defenders. South Australian Adriano Pellegrino was positioned just behind the Ivory Coast striker and also impressed Mitchell with his tenacity at the ball.

The Glory was undone by two second half goals, the first coming from a dubious penalty in the 55th minute, the second, a bullet like strike from 16 yards by Cameroon striker Aboubakar Oumarou just 10 minutes later.

Dutch ‘keeper Arnoldus van Zwam was between the posts for Perth and performed well in his first outing for the club.

Former Glory player Josip Magdic played the final five minutes after recovering from an ankle strain he suffered several days ago. The 22 year old will start in the club’s next match on Saturday as he looks to book his return to the Hyundai A-League in 2008/09.
