New West Sydney coach Tony Popovic and new club CEO Lyall Gorman are working in tandem to bring together the side’s inaugural roster.

It’s believed a Jets player has already signed while an Australian attacking midfielder, capped at age level and playing in the SPL, is close to joining them.

Russia, England and Croatia are other markets where they are also looking for players, we're told.

Other players linked to West Sydney include former Sky Blue striker Mark Bridge, who was released from the final year of his contract citing a need for new challenges.

Former Melbourne Victory keeper Ante Covic is also understood to be close to signing for the new West Sydney club after his eye-catching year with Victory.

Popovic returns to Australia later this month to take the reins at a club that has already announced Ante Milicic as his assistant coach.
