Bleiberg, speaking to FoxSports after Saturday's 2-0 win over Wellington Phoenix, said he hoped the Gold Coast public turns up for the December 19 game to prove the community deserves a team.

"I think so far there's been 5000 tickets registered and ordered," he said. "If it continues at the same rate then we might break the record of Gold Coast United.

"We're expecting originally more than 5000 to prove the Gold Coast community deserves a football team. We're aiming now towards the 10,000 and if we're being optimistic even 15,000."

Bleiberg added the 2-0 win over Wellington was an ideal performance ahead of a busy week where they'll face Newcastle Jets in midweek before the Mariners game.

"I would've described this performance as efficient," he said. "That's the way you play when you've got three tough games in one week."

Speaking about another clean sheet, Bleiberg added: "It was satisfactory although we made some blunders. But overall it's a good feeling because when you concede a goal you have something to talk about and dwell about, but now we can look forward to the next game."

Phoenix skipper Andrew Durante said the result was disappointing for his side who now drop out of the top six.

"We were desperate for three points to keep up with the top six," he said.

"We didn't really show up in the second-half, I thought in the first-half we created some opportunities but the second-half we ran out of ideas and couldn't get past them. So it was very disappointing."

Durante added he was not sure of the extent of goalkeeper Mark Paston's injury which saw his stretchered off just before the break.

"We're not too sure yet," he said. "It seems to be a knee problem. He'll get scans when we get back."

Wellington's next match is at home to Newcastle Jets on Saturday.
