GOLD Coast United player Sebastiaan Van Den Brink has been suspended for four matches for "unsporting conduct toward a match official".
The incident involving Van Den Brink occured in the 33rd minute of Gold Coast United's match against Adelaide United on Friday night.
As the incident escaped the attention of the referee, the Independent Match Review Panel has the authority to consider the incident and hand down a penalty.
Van Den Brink has until Tuesday to lodge an appeal against the sanction.
In other incidents reviewed by the MRP, Kristian Rees's red card from the same match has been upheld as has the red card issued to Henrique in the match between Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory, with both earning the recipients a mandatory one match ban.
