Van’t Schip spoke at the unveiling of the club’s latest signing, Brazilian striker Maycon, who took some part in Tuesday’s session after arriving on Monday in Melbourne.

The Nova Iguacu striker, who recently competed in the Rio de Janeiro State Championship, widely regarded as one of the strongest competitions in Brazil, is one of the final pieces in Heart’s jigsaw for the new season.

“I think the vision that we have is going to stay the same, only the players who have to put it on the pitch are different,” said van’t Schip.

Adding to that is Fred's arrival in the coming weeks to pep up Heart’s attacking third after the club missed out on finals football last season – their first in the A-League.

“I think we have a lot of mobility with David Williams, Mate Dugandzic, Rutger Worm and also with Alex Terra and Maycon, Eli [Babalj] and Jason [Hoffman]," said van't Schip.

"These players are very mobile and move very easy with their running.Hopefully within that we can create something good within that, and of course with Fred coming in is a big thing for us. He’s a player who’s already played here.

“We lost a lot of experience and we’re bringing Fred back and we hope we at least have a player who can help all the other players in a different kind of way too.”

Fred, a one-time A-League player of the year and Melbourne Victory favourite, is set to be unveiled sometime in July or early August after finishing his contract with MLS club DC United this week.

“The good thing is he will be fully fit after playing in a league, he will be here and be fully fit,” added van’t Schip.

And the Dutchman was unconcerned by a perceived  focus on flair and potential lack of defensive cover after the exit of centre-back Michael Beauchamp and trial of right back Michael Marrone in Italy.

“If you look at our centre-backs we have Brendan [Hamill], Curtis [Good], Simon [Colosimo] and probably Matt [Thompson] who’s probably going to play in the back,” he explained.

“And Adrian Zahra can play at right full back because now up front we have a lot of other attacking kind of players. Adrian is also a player who can come from behind and on the left side we have Aziz of course and Curtis can play left full-back.

“So I think we’re covered quite well at the back.”

As for Maycon, Van’t Schip revealed he knew of Maycon’s talents for at least a year.

“He’s a fit player and played in the championship of Rio, which is very tough. He was playing in a smaller team but did well.” Maycon, 24, himself revealed that the move to the A-League was also a potential springboard to pastures greener.

"First play well here and stay as long as I can and then the dream of every player is to play for a big team in Europe, so maybe go to Europe in the future."

With Fred arriving soon, there is a growing Brazilian flavour to the city’s A-League scene. And rumours are circulating that Melbourne Victory could be signing a Brazilian of their own.

Meanwhile, at Heart training new youth team coach John Aloisi appears to have taken to coaching very comfortably as he assisted van’t Schip with training in the absence of regular number two Ante Milicic.

Players training today included former Nike Chance star Alon Blumgart. Star keeper Clint Bolton didn’t train today but is expected to be fit for the new season after under-going shoulder surgery in recent months.

“Clint is doing well. He is doing his rehab … but we have to be careful but looking at it now it shouldn’t be a problem for him to be ready for the start of the season,” said van’t Schip.

Van’t Schip said the club was scouring the local leagues for a back-up keeper and will also trial a new out-field player next week.

In other news, the new A-League TV ad for season seven was shot last week in Melbourne with insiders saying it’s a vast improvement on last season’s “Fan Made” adverts.
