Rumours out of the Melbourne victory are that Archie Thompson may move on at the end of the year (his contract is set to expire). Relations between Archie and the club have been strained of late by the Brekkie-gate scandal and Archie's comments in the media. Archie is believed to be keen to give his career in Europe another shot, and is rumoured to be keen to a move to an English outfit to bolster his chances of 2010 World Cup selection. After adopting a conservative attitude in the transfer market in the first three seasons of the A-League, Victory are reportedly ready to launch a Sydney-like bid for a superstar marquee player. Their shortlist includes the likes of Patrick Kluivert, Sylvain Wiltord, Rivaldo, Alvaro Recoba, as well as home-town favourite Mark Viduka.

FourFourTwo Belief Factor: 2/10 - Sorry, but we'll believe it when we see Viduka (or any of the others) with a V on his chest. And you'd think Archie would have given up on Europe by now, no matter how fed up he is at Victory. But a move to the Championship or League One is possible - would it be better than being an A-League marquee though?
