MELBOURNE Victory goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak will make his A-League debut against Sydney FC this weekend at the SFS.
The highly rated 19-year-old is being handed his debut by coach Ernie Merrick after playing understudy to Michael Theoklitos all year.
“There's no point in keeping him in nappies, might as well throw him in at the deep end and see how he goes,” Merrick told au.fourfourtwo.com today.
Langerak was raised in Bundaberg, Queensland where he played for local club Bundaberg Waves. Ironically, Sydney FC keeper Clint Bolton is also from Bundaberg.
Langerak played for local VPL side South Melbourne during the last off-season.
