Melbourne Victory are to appeal the three-match ban given to Steve Pantelidis for an elbow on Newcastle Jet Joel Griffiths last week.
Melbourne Victory CEO Geoff Miles today confirmed that the club would be lodging an appeal against the sentence handed down by Football Federation Australia.
The FFA Match Review Panel handed Pantelidis an additional two match suspension to the mandatory one match suspension he received for being issued a red card.
The club indicated that it had no further comment to make on the matter until the completion of the appeal process.
