MELBOURNE Victory are reportedly interested in signing 23-year old Bolivian international striker Jose Alfredo Castillo for the upcoming A-League season. The Victory are keen to bring in the former Oriente Petrolero man as a replacement for the departed Brazilian Fred.
Castillo has also played for Mexican club Tecos and the Bolivian national team with whom he has a reputable scoring record. He is expected to be apart of the squad which will represent Bolivia at this years Copa America.
Melbourne management may have a tough time bringing the young gun to Australia, however, Mexican and Argentine clubs have the wealth to keep South American stars on their own continent and it could be too hard to fit the striker under the Australian salary cap. There is also the cap on foreigners, of which A-League sides are limited to four, which is a further obstacle in the champions signing Castillo.
