The Reds travel to Gosford to face Central Coast Mariners and must look to put their Champions League disappointment behind them.

A win at Bluetongue Stadium would put The Reds equal on points with the top of the table Melbourne Victory, while a loss would see the Mariners jump past United into second spot.

The Reds coughed up a three-goal lead against the Mariners back in round seven and Vidmar is in no mood for a repeat performance.

He said: “The Central Coast are always an extremely hard team to play against.

“We had them in a good position a little while ago and they fought back strongly to draw the game 3-all, and they did it again a fortnight ago so they aren’t going to be a pushover, especially over there.”

Vidmar has the option of bringing in a number of players who did not play against Gamba Osaka on Wednesday night.

Fabian Barbiero is ready to return after a calf problem, goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic has had added time to get over his injured groin after missing the ACL Final through suspension and defender Angelo Costanzo should also be fresh after missing on Wednesday night the same reason.

Alemao and Jonas Salley also come into contention for the Reds.

United’s squad were being put through their paces this morning before departing for Gosford, giving Vidmar the opportunity to gauge how his side has pulled up after the mid week match.

He said: “We just have to assess what our boys are like and we’ll have a good look at them before we head off in the afternoon."
