Costa Rica were the opponents when Speed made his debut for Wales back in 1990, and have been chosen as the opposition for a memorial match that will take place next month.

The clash has been scheduled for February 29, with 10 percent of the profits from the game going to charity.

A statement from the Welsh FA reads: "This will be an opportunity to celebrate the life and achievements of a great servant to Welsh football, both as a player and as a manager."

The football world was shocked by the death of the former Leeds and Newcastle United midfielder last year at the age of 42, with Speed masterminding a change in fortunes of the Welsh national side as they looked to continue their good 2011 form into qualifying for the 2014 World Cup.
