Ernie Merrick said before the match “Two teams will be determined to take three points” but it was Newcastle Jets who took the game to Western Sydney Wanderers, putting five past an indifferent, outplayed side.

Nigel Boogaard – 8.0
Solid, performance, totally commanded his area. Superb display along his partner in defence.
Nikolai Topor-Stanley – 8.0
Along with Boogaard, he produced a superb defensive performance. Concentrated throughout the match.
Daniel Georgievski – 7.5
Nice ball crossed into the box early on. Working hard in defence up and down the right-hand side of the park. Showed solid intent. Clever defending.
Steven Ugarkovic – 7.5
Two pefect passes which set up the Jets' two goals. Defended really well, staying on his feet. Brilliant game.

Quick-feet, holds the ball up very well. Fantastic pace. Good patience in distribution. Subbed in the 78th minute.
Matthew Ridenton – 7.5
Reading the play well. Fantastic defending. Scored the Jets' fourth, a well balanced strike to slot it in. Showed fantastic energy.
Jason Hoffman – 7.5
Slippy conditions but a sloppy cross early on. Picked up his game immensely. 21st minute, he scored from the rebound. Great intent and energy causing all sort of troubles for the Wanderers defence. Strong in holding the ball and generally, a well balanced player. Subbed 70th minute.
