The Group B action started with games at Hawker and McKellar ovals on Saturday. Weston Creek showed their usual class with a 3-0 win over new team, Belconnen United. Kim Channing, last year's Player of the Year and Top Goal Scorer in the Women's Premier League, scored two of the goals before going down with a knee injury just before full time.

At Hawker, ANU appeared with a relatively unchanged team line-up from last year's competition and showed that the cohesion this created would make them a force to be reckoned with in this year's Federation Cup. They beat the young State League 1 Radford team 7-0 and so Wednesday night's match against Belconnen at McKellar should be one to watch.

Group A played at Hawker on Sunday. Belwest, with a rather new look line-up, took on the very young Capital Football Academy Astrals, an Under 15 side. The Astrals youth couldn't match the experience of Belwest and they went down 6-0.

In the second match of the day, Woden Rival played the new look Canberra City team, Limestone Academy in the closest match up of the weekend. With plenty of chances for either side, the keepers kept all chances out until Woden scored half way through the second half and the game finished 1-0.
