The two teenagers are due to arrive in the country, direct from their exploits with the Under 20 national team in Vietnam, on the morning of the much-hyped match.

And while fatigue and jetlag could be concerns for the two, Farina was confident both would be ready if called upon.

“We have plenty of options for Friday night and potentially young Tahj Minniecon and Mitch Nichols who both get back from Vietnam on Friday morning,” said Farina.

“We could change our formation, but it’s good to have the options; I’d rather be in the position of having to make a choice rather than having your hand forced. I think they’ll be fine to play.

"Early on in the season when we played Adelaide, Bruce Djite and Nathan Burns came back the morning of our match against them from national team duties overseas.

"Everyone was saying they would be no good and couldn’t play – they both scored goals against us.

“Mitch and Tahj are young guys; they’re both 18 and I don’t think they’ll have any problem, if required.”

With the Roar hitting blistering form as the end to the second round approaches, Farina was hesitant to get ahead of himself but did say he was confident his side could come away with something on Friday night.

“It’s nice to be getting good results, but you’re only as good as your next game so we’ve got to try and maintain the momentum,” he said.

“If we can get a good result this Friday against Melbourne it will be fantastic for where we want to go and particularly where it will put us.

“Melbourne are the Champions, it’s as simple as that. We’ve all got our problems; we’re missing players, they’re missing players, but they’re a great side particularly up front.

He added: "They’ve got Thompson, Allsopp, Love and Hernandez so they’ve lost no punch there.

“They’re a very dangerous side and it’s going to be a big ask for us, but if we can maintain some of the form that we’ve had in the last few weeks, I’m reasonably confident that we can get something.”
