CSKA Moscow President Yevgeni Giner said on Sunday that the 2018 World Cup was "the best" in history, and that it would "cause a surge of interest" in football in Russia.
On Sunday, France beat Croatia 4-2 in the final at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium to lift their second World Cup trophy.
"I liked the tournament... I'm happy that our country has hosted such a tournament. Now there will be a surge of interest in football, new stadiums were built, new infrastructure was created. I didn't think that we'd manage to host [the World Cup] so well. I've been to many World Cups, and ours is currently the best. We should develop football in order not to lose it all after the World Cup," Giner told journalists.
