Around 256,000 fans attended the World Cup matches held at the 43,000-seater Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, acting deputy governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Dmitry Svatkovsky said on Wednesday.
"The six matches at the stadium were attended by 256,000 people, and four of the matches saw the stadium packed to capacity," Svatkovsky told journalists.
According to the official, more than 450,000 people visited the FIFA Fan Fest in Nizhny Novgorod, with a record 43,000 fans coming to the fan zone during England's 6-1 drubbing of Panama, which took place in the city on 24 June.
