MOSCOW, May 30 (Sputnik) - Around 30,000 Mexican football fans are planning to come to Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Mexican Ambassador to Russia Norma Pensado Moreno told Sputnik Wednesday
"I am not ready to tell exactly how many Mexicans will come to Russia for the World Cup, probably, around 30,000 people or even more. That's the information we received from FIFA," Moreno said.
The ambassador added that Mexico's mobile consular groups will operate in the cities, where the country's national team will play during the tournament.
"The first match against Germany will take place in Moscow, then there will be fixtures in Yekaterinburg and Rostov-on-Don. Afterwards, there will probably be matches in Samara, St. Petersburg etc. Mexico will open a consulate in Saint Petersburg for a month and will open temporary consular groups in the cities where our team will play," Moreno said.
Russia's first-ever World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 arenas in 11 cities across the country. Mexico will face defending champions Germany, Sweden and South Korea in Group F.
