KALININGRAD, June 29 (Sputnik) - Players of the Belgian and the English national teams, who played their final 2018 FIFA World Cup group stage match in the Russian city of Kaliningrad on Thursday, departed on Friday, Kaliningrad's Khrabrovo airport's spokesperson Natalia Gritsun said Friday.
"The airplanes carrying the teams left for St. Petersburg and Moscow from Khrabrovo airport at night. The airplane carrying the Serbian team, who have finished their World Cup campaign, left for Belgrade on Thursday night," Gritsun said.
Belgium beat England 1-0 on Thursday. Both teams secured their passage through to the round of 16, where they will face Japan and Colombia, respectively.
Gritsun added that fans rooting for Belgium and England left for Brussels and London early on Friday morning. Two more charter flights will depart from Khrabrovo airport later in the day.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia
