KALININGRAD, June 1 (Sputnik) - Russia has a good chance of winning the upcoming FIFA World Cup, former Brazil defender and two-time World Cup winner Cafu said on Friday.
"Brazil will win this tournament! This is a joke, of course, but our team has a good chance of winning the World Cup. Russia’s chances are also good, as they are playing at home. Other strong national teams will arrive [at the World Cup] - Spain, Portugal, England and Belgium," Cafu told reporters in Kaliningrad.
The player added that Kaliningrad, which is one of the host cities of the tournament, is a "wonderful, beautiful city."
"I think everyone will feel good here, including England," Cafu said.
England is set to play against Belgium in Kaliningrad in Group G.
Cafu, who played for Brazil for 16 years and won the 1994 and 2006 World Cups, is set to take part in a friendly between FIFA legends and former Russian players on Sunday.
Russia will host the 2018 World Cup from June 14 to July 15, with the games set to be held in 11 cities, including Kaliningrad. Brazil will play against Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia in Group E, while Russia is set to play against Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay in Group A.
