A FAN ID is a personalized document which is obligatory for everyone who has a ticket to any of the tournament's games. It provides holders with a visa-free entry to Russia during the World Cup, with fans being able to enter the country 10 days before the first match and stay until ten days after the last game.

According to the press service, a total of 1.5 million FAN IDs have been issued, with 871,000 received by Russian citizens, 60,000 by Chinese fans and 49,000 by US supporters. Notably, the national teams of China and the USA have not qualified for the World Cup finals.

Almost 43,000 FAN IDs have been issued to Mexicans, over 30,000 - to Argentinian and Brazilian citizens. Supporters of outgoing champions Germany have applied for more than 28,000 FAN IDs.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
