Eventual champions Germany won all of their three games at Sochi's Fisht Stadium in 2017, including a 4-1 semi-final victory over Mexico, but lost to the North American side 1-0 in their first match of the World Cup in Moscow on Sunday.

"The players have arrived in Sochi and are reminiscing about their success at the Confederations Cup last year. It gives them confidence. There was a different type of preparation in Moscow. Here, the weather and the ambiance are excellent, but we should play well anyway," Bierhoff told journalists.

Title-holders Germany will face Sweden in the Black Sea resort of Sochi on Saturday before playing South Korea in their final Group F match in Kazan on 27 June.
