"The text you are talking about is fake. Zlatko Dalic never wrote it," Pacak said.

On Monday, a letter seemingly signed by Dalic was posted on Facebook stating that politicians should not wear shirts of the national team and must keep as far as possible from the squad.

The text also alleged that Croatia players would donate their prize money for the second place they claimed at the World Cup in Russia to a children's charity.

Later, the Croatian website Dnevno reported that the text was not penned by Dalic, but by journalist Igor Premuzic, who published the statement on his Facebook page on July 13.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and came to a close on Sunday as France beat Croatia 4-2 in the final, with Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic being among the VIP guests at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
