NIZHNY NOVGOROD, July 2 (Sputnik) - Denmark had enough to beat Croatia and put in a good performance in the quarter-finals, head coach Age Hareide said on Sunday after his team’s defeat to Croatia.
In the round of 16 game in Nizhny Novgorod, Denmark lost to Croatia 3-2 on penalties after the match finished in a 1-1 draw after extra time.
“We have a good team, we could have defeated Croatia. We managed to create good moments, we didn’t let them play to their best. We controlled such a wonderful player as [Croatia midfielder Luka] Modric. I think we could have played well in the quarter-final,” Hareide told reporters at the post-match press conference.
The coach also wished luck to their “brothers Sweden,” who will face Switzerland on Tuesday.
Croatia will play against Russia in a quarter-final match on July 7 in Sochi.
