On Sunday, France beat Croatia 4-2 in the final at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium to lift their second World Cup trophy.

Deschamps captained his national team to their first triumph at the FIFA World Cup in 1998, where they beat Brazil 3-0 in the final.

Only former Brazil forward Mario Zagallo and former West Germany defender Franz Beckenbauer lifted the trophy as players and head coaches before Deschamps.

Zagallo won two FIFA World Cups as a member of Brazil's squad in 1958 and 1962 before lifting his third trophy in 1970 as the national team's head coach, while Beckenbauer won the tournament in 1974 as West Germany captain and in 1990 as the team's head coach.
