"Twelve flights could be added to the three regular weekly ones to transport the fans to Russia to support the national football team during the World Cup," Musallam said as quoted by the Egyptian newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm.

He added that the flights will be arranged in case of high demand for tickets but did not specify for what days these flights would be scheduled.

More than 20,000 Egyptian fans are expected to travel to Russia to support their team at the World Cup.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities. Egypt were drawn in Group A along with hosts Russia, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay. The match between Egypt and Russia will take place in St. Petersburg on June 19.
