Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani said on Sunday that he hoped to continue cooperation with Russia over hosting the 2022 World Cup.
"We hope to continue our cooperation with our Russian colleagues over the organization of the tournament," the Qatari emir said during the ceremony of handing over the World Cup host's mantle.
The emir also invited Russian President Vladimir Putin, who attended the ceremony at the Moscow Kremlin as well, to visit Qatar for the World Cup.
The ceremony ended with Putin handing over the official match ball, which will be used in the World Cup final later on Sunday, to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who passed it on to the Qatari emir.
The final between France and Croatia set to take place at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium at 18:00 local time.
