"I hope everyone can see the evolution we've made over the previous two years," Dier told journalists.

He said that two years ago, England had a "bad start" at UEFA Euro 2016, being held to 1-1 draw by Russia in their first match.

The 24-year-old added that he was "very relaxed" after England's arrival in St. Petersburg, where the team will be staying and training during the tournament.

"As we've got a chance to play at this World Cup, it should be amazing," Dier said.

Russia will host its first World Cup from June 14 to July 15. The fixtures will be played at 12 stadiums across 11 cities.

England will face Belgium, Panama and Tunisia in GroupĀ  G at the tournament.
