MOSCOW, July 14 (Sputnik) - FIFA President Gianni Infantino said on Saturday that the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia had proved that Russia was a "truly football country."
"This World Cup has proved that Russia is a truly football country. Thank you, Russia, for hosting the best World Cup in history," Infantino said at the gala concert at Moscow's Bolshoi Theater,
Infantino added that this summer's tournament had changed Russia's image in the world.
He said "thank you" in Russian several times.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will come to a close on Sunday, with France facing Croatia in the final, which will be played at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
