MOSCOW, May 30 (Sputnik) - The International Football Federation (FIFA) said on Wednesday that they had removed Fahad al-Mirdasi, who had received a lifetime ban from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF), from their list of referees appointed to officiate at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
"With reference to the current situation of the Saudi referee Fahad Al-Mirsadu, the FIFA Referees Committee has considered that the conditions to be selected for the 2018 FIFA World Cup are not satisfied anymore and therefore has decided that the selection of Al-Mirdasi is withdrawn," the world football's governing body said in a statement published on their official website.
FIFA added that Al Mirdasi's assistant referees Mohammed Al Abakry and Abdulah Alshalwai had also been removed from the list.
"The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) have been officially informed," FIFA said.
Al-Mirdasi should have officiated the Saudi Kings Cup final between Al-Faisal and Al-Ittihad, which took place on May 12, but was replaced by Englishman Mark Clattenburg as the SAFF said that Al-Mirdasi had offered one of the clubs to bribe him in order to influence the outcome of the match.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held in 11 Russian cities from June 14 till July 15.
