MOSCOW, June 8 (Sputnik) - Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Arkady Dvorkovich said on Friday that the upcoming tournament should contribute to the development of ecological culture in Russia.
"The World Cup itself is being held in the maximum eco-friendly way, all the stadiums are certified according to a special ecological standard. We expect that the general impact of the World Cup on the environment will be minimal... I hope that the World Cup will contribute to the development of the country's ecological culture," Dvorkovich said.
Russia will host its first World Cup from June 14 to July 15. The fixtures will be played at 12 stadiums across 11 cities.
