MOSCOW, May 31 (Sputnik) - Former Spartak Moscow, Manchester United and Serbia defender Nemanja Vidic said on Thursday that he hoped that either Russia or Serbia would lift the FIFA World Cup trophy this summer.
"Surely, I want to see Serbia in the final. It's hard to make predictions, judging by the recent tournaments, the winners are not always predictable. Germany always shows stable results, Brazil, Argentina, and Spain are the favorites. We are in for surprises. I hope either Serbia or Russia will become the World Cup winners," Vidic told journalists.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities.
The host nation will face Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay in Group A, while Serbia were drawn in Group E where they will play five-time champions Brazil, Switzerland and Costa Rica.
