France goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris said it was a "big honour" for him to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup as the captain of the national team.
France won the 2018 FIFA World Cup after beating Croatia 4-2 in the final at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on Monday (AEST).
"When you have so many players of such a high level, you just can't give up" he said.
"We were fighting today, and we managed to win the [world champions] title. We're all incredibly glad... that we managed to make our fans happy.
"There's a lot of work behind this victory. Holding the World Cup trophy as the team's captain is a big honor, and I've already thanked the guys for this tournament."

Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic capitalized on a poor error from Lloris and tapped the ball past the goalkeeper into an empty net with 21 minutes remaining.
"We were already leading 4-1, but I lost control for a second - and that was it," Lloris said.
France captain praised his side's forward Kylian Mbappe who won the FIFA Young Player award at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
"Mbappe... has everything he needs to become an outstanding player," Lloris said.
Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and came to a close on Monday (AEST) with 64 games played in 11 cities across the country.
