MOSCOW, July 9 (Sputnik) - Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Arkady Dvorkovich participated in a game of football that took place at Moscow’s Red Square on Monday.
The event titled “Thank You Volunteers” was a match between mixed teams, assembled from volunteers who worked at the FIFA World Cup in Russia, as well as famous former players such as Michel Salgado, Julio Baptista, Dmitri Bulykin and other World Cup ambassadors.
Dvorkovich thanked the volunteers before the match started.
“Today we all want to say a big ‘thank you’ to the volunteers! You did everything to make this tournament truly amazing! You always do everything with an open heart and a big smile. You are great and carry on in the same way,” he said.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the final set to be held at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
