MOSCOW, May 31 (Sputnik) - CEO of the Local Organizing Committee Alexey Sorokin told Sputnik Thursday that he was glad that Ukrainian fans will be able to watch the 2018 FIFA World Cup matches to be held in Russia this summer.
On Wednesday, two Ukrainian channels were granted the rights to broadcast 2018 FIFA World Cup games.
"For us, the more fans watch the World Cup around the world, regardless of the country, the better. We are happy that football fans in Ukraine will have an opportunity to watch the interesting matches [of the tournament]," Sorokin said.
Ukraine will not play at the World Cup after finishing third in their qualifying group.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 arenas in 11 Russian cities.
