French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated his team on winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
France beat Croatia 4-2 in the final at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium to lift their second World Cup trophy.
"French team: thank you," Macron posted on his Twitter account late on Monday (AEST).
French Sports Minister Laura Flessel-Colovic also congratulated the national team.
"We all celebrate the victory tonight! You are our heroes. Thank you, French team! What a joy!" she posted on Twitter.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated France and Croatia on putting on a beautiful performance in the final, and US President Donald Trump congratulated France and praised Russia for "putting on a truly great World Cup."
Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and came to a close on Sunday with 64 games played in 11 cities across the country.
