“I think [I have] only good things about Kylian. To me he is a phenomenon, that he’s only 19-years-old. So for the moment I think he is the first player on the team… But the most important thing is to have a team, not a good player,” Blanc said.

He also said that France was his favorite for this final and the team’s coach Didier Deschamps, who won the 1998 World Cup as the team’s captain, has the “important experience of playing in the final match” which he hopes “transmits to the players,” helping them to win the World Cup.

When asked about who has a chance to be awarded the Ballon d'Or, Blanc said that although there are great defenders and goalkeepers to compete for it, it will be “complicated for them to win, because it is strikers who public loves” because they are usually the ones to score.

The final on Sunday will see France face Croatia, who have never won the tournament. The match will take place at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
