"We've discussed my visit to Moscow that I will make at the invitation of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, in order to attend the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup," Dodon posted on his official Facebook page on Thursday.

He added that the bilateral relations between the two countries were continuously improving despite a series of unfriendly acts on the part of the Moldovan government.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held in 11 Russian cities from June 14 to July 15. The host nation will play Saudi Arabia in the opening match at the Luzhniki Stadium, before also facing Egypt and Uruguay in their other two Group A matches.
