Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin inaugurated city's emergency response center for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Saturday which is now located at the Luzhniki Stadium.
"Moscovites are used to large-scale events, but such [significant] events as the FIFA World Cup take place in Moscow very rarely," Sobyanin said.
According to the mayor, the center was created in order to monitor and solve problems that may arise during the World Cup with the members of the emergency response team authorized to make all decisions on the spot.
The task team is on duty every day starting from Saturday at the Luzhniki Stadium while on match days the emergency response team will work in full or reduced capacity, depending on the situation, at both the Luzhniki and Spartak stadiums.
Russia will host its first World Cup from June 14 to July 15. The teams will play in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don and Yekaterinburg.
A total of 12 matches, including the opener and the final, will take place in Moscow at the Luzhniki and Spartak stadiums.
