"A total of 133 events were planned as part of the preparations for the World Cup, and all of them have been completed. We did all we could. We did our best and this will help us welcome the guests with dignity," Nikitin said.

The acting governor added that restrictions imposed in the region for the duration of the tournament should be minimal.

Russia's first-ever FIFA World Cup will take place in 11 cities from June 14 to July 15. Nizhny Novgorod will host four group stage matches, as well as one round of 16 game and a quarter-final.
