MOSCOW, June 29 (Sputnik) - Over 213,000 football fans have already traveled to the cities that hosted group-stage matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup via free trains since the start of the tournament in Russia, the Russian Railways said Friday.
“From June 12, the Russian Railways holding has already launched 487 additional free trains for fans, transporting over 213,500 people. Another 26 trains will be launched on June 19, they will transport more than 14,000 fans from Moscow, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Samara, Volgograd, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Rostov-on-Don,” the company said in a statement, citing it’s CEO Oleg Belozerov.
Fans who have obtained tickets for the World Cup matches, as well as their Fan IDs, can book free train seats for trains traveling between host cities of the tournament.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
