MOSCOW, July 17 (Sputnik) - More than 23,000 football fans visited Moscow's museums using their Fan IDs to get a discount during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the Moscow mayor's office said on Tuesday.
A Fan ID was an obligatory document for everyone who bought tickets to the World Cup games in Russia.
"A total of 45 capital museums welcomed more than 23,000 people with Fan IDs from June 14 to July 15. It entitled them to a 50 percent discount," the mayor's office said in a statement published on its official website.
According to the statement, the Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics was the most popular among the World Cup fans in Moscow, with more than 16,000 Fan ID holders visiting the museum.
A total of 16,000 fans also used a chatbot program that offered free guided tours around the city center, with the majority of users being Russian speakers.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and came to a close on Sunday, with France beating Croatia 4-2 in the final. The matches were played in 11 cities across Russia, including Moscow, which hosted 12 games at two venues.
