More than 28,000 football fans visited Samara's FIFA Fan Fest during the match on Wednesday morning AEST, the press service of the region's government says.
Russia beat Egypt 3-1 in St. Petersburg on Tuesday night to all but book a berth in the Round of 16, something the national team had failed to do in their previous three World Cup outings.
"A total of 28,700 people visited the fan fest during the day, with the peak load of almost 20,000 people. The capacity of the fest is 20,000 people," the press service said.
Russia and Uruguay became the first two teams to secure their places in the knockout stage of the World Cup after Uruguay beat Saudi Arabia 1-0.
